South Africa’s oldest mountain run still deserves it’s place as the toughest and wildest mountain run in South Africa. What sets Skyrun apart from all the others is the remoteness of the route, the lack of an established trail and the self navigation.
Cut-offs on all distances are generous, there is enough time to recover from problems and still get to the finish in time to get that coveted medal. The mountain spirit of the organisers, the generosity of the locals and the mystique that surrounds this iconic run make it an absolute must-do if you’d like to be called a mountain runner.
*The 100 km is also a Western States 100 qualifier for 2020
